How long will the my door last after I refinish it?
Front doors are constantly exposed to sunlight and exterior weather conditions. It is important to realize that a wooden front door requires maintainence in order to keep it in it's best quality. When we refinish a door we apply four coats of protective Melesi Coatings clear coat on top of our stain. Each coat will last about a year. We provide you with easy DIY maintenance tips to keep your door in tip top shape and leave you with the remainder of the clear coat to brush on a coat every year. Doing this will save you from replacing your door down the road which is a very costly endeavor.
Can I go to a lighter stain color?
Absolutely! Whenever we take on a door refinishing project we sand the existing finish and stain all the way off - allowing you to pick a stain color of your liking. We also have the ability to custom match your existing door color.
Do you remove the doors when refinishing them?
In most instances, no we do not. There are certain cases where we will need to take the door down and finish it off site. In these cases we board up your entryway temporarily until the door can be reinstalled. But in most cases we refinish the doors in place and mask around them to eliminate dust and overspray.
